The Green In Winter

Wandering in the local forest you will come across thick moss growing on trees quite often. Depending on the light and probably your mood it can be quite pretty or rather creepy. It sometimes almost seems to have it's own intense green glow. Other times it looks stifling like it's choking the tree it's on. I caught some of the glow here the other day when I got in close to the moss. I think it's time to start wandering the trails a bit more, I haven't been doing much of that for a while.

  1. Cool effect, shooting wide open at f1.7 meant that only an inch or two of the moss is in sharp focus. When it is overcast, winter moss is emerald green and luminescent.

  3. Thanks to both of you. Paige it's nice to hear your words. I try to inject some of the process into what I am doing here but in the end it is about the photograph and it is so good to know you're enjoying it.
