My Photo Buddy

Dar and I went downtown Monday to see about taking photos at the jazz festival. We managed to catch the last song of one act. Undeterred we wandered with the cameras out seeing what we could see. While having a little break at a local coffee shop (yes bux) I noticed the light on Dar.
I used the 50mm 1/160th sec f2.8 iso 100.

The Best Camera

You Probably know the answer to the that. The best camera is the one you have with you. That sentiment has been around for a while. It makes sense so why not. I don't use the camera in my phone much. I think what holds me back a bit is I still strive for the end result to be a print. 4x6 prints from my camera phone is about as big as I would like to go. A lot of photos in this age never make it to print and are never intended to. I have seen a lot of photos on the internet that I really like. They get shared and that's what's important I guess.
I went for a ride on my bicycle the other day. I stopped by Fleetwood Park to see what flowers were out, see if a trip with my camera would be in order. There weren't a lot but some. I had my phone with me and thought while I was there I might as well try some photos with it.

Of course I couldn't leave well enough alone, the Lily was washed out in the the file so I fiddled a bit with it to bring out the detail in the flower. I also cropped a bit. You can't do much cropping the files are so small. I think I will stick to my regular camera but maybe I should pay a little more attention to the one I have with me all the time.

Playing At Work Or Working At Play

I think if I were to make a career change I would want to become a dozer boat operator. I was watching 2 fellows working on a log boom while out for a bike ride and just happened to have my telephoto lens with my camera. I could have sat there and took pictures till my battery drained but alas they finished whatever it was they were doing and motored off. I had a lot of fun taking photos but I bet they were having even more fun.

We've Been Expecting You

Inspired Tomfoolery was the other title I thought of for this post. Taking photos of a young fellow who doesn't really like having his picture taken and being encouraged by his older sister (yes Jenn, that's you) can be an exercise in frustration. At one point someone said hey put Jenn's shades on. I sighed, figured rather than gripe I would just let them get it out of their system when Peter put them on and stood there, like this.

With my great intellectual skills I said "Oh" and grabbed some shots. You know, yesterday I carefully studied a guide to posing men. I even sent a copy to Peter which he of course ignored. I tried a lot of the poses and I will even show some in future. This pose was not in the guide. I think it isn't one anyone would want to use a lot. With the suit and shades, it was a very good fit.

Taken with the 50mm (nifty fifty, remember?) 1/1000th sec f1.7 iso 100.

Nifty Fifty

This post is to mention I am going to put my 50mm on the camera and that will be my only lens for a while. I don't have any photos in mind it's just a little project to see what I might come up with. I at first wondered about the wisdom of that because today I will be going out to take photos of my son for his graduation. I checked back and I had done Jenn's graduation pictures with the same lens. I took this particular photo a couple years ago in a nearby park.

Taken with the 50mm (of course) 1/400th sec at f1.7 iso 100
