If It Looks Like A Duck

We finally got to  Reifel Bird Sanctuary today. The weather was dry so Dar and I decided we had to get out and do some bird stuff. It seemed to us there weren't a lot of birds there. You could hear them and they were flying around but just not in the numbers I am used to.  However as usual there were millions of ducks. I don't usually take photos of them but one thing I have attempted in the past was to catch them in flight. I never really succeeded until today I got this photo. I think it has hooked me a bit and I am going to have to go try some more.

Travelling Light

Nicola and I haven't had an opportunity to do one of our little tiny restaurant photo shoots in some time. I made sure we had a window seat so we could get some of that great North facing light coming in. It just happens she is off on another trip (check out her blog for the usual entertaining posts as they come) and I thought we needed a photo of her looking off in the distance thinking of the things she is going to see.

I brought out the trusty old 50mm for this photo 1/320th sec f1.7 iso 400. The GPS was stuck on a previous location I am afraid.

Look Down!

On the same walk as the previous photo I stepped off the main trail to a minor one because something caught my eye. As I stepped over a log I happened to look where my foot was and right next to it was this. I felt quite lucky I stepped where I did. I can't remember what it was I went to look at but I spent a few moments with these (what appear to be) Birds Nest Fungi.

I used the 16-80 at 80mm 1/40th sec at f7.1 iso 100 and it was taken right about here.
